What does it really mean to be a bilingual Master of Ceremonies?

I had the pleasure of joining Minter Dial for a podcast interview via video call, where we explored my journey as a bilingual event host and the skills involved in bringing people together through live events.

From corporate conferences to international ceremonies, my role goes far beyond introducing speakers. It's about creating connections, setting the right pace, reading the room, and making every audience member feel part of the experience.

In this conversation, I share my perspective on the art of hosting events in both French and English.

Jocelin Haas, bilingual Master of Ceremonies and corporate event host, joins Minter Dial for a video podcast interview about his career and the art of hosting events in French and English.

My Journey as a Bilingual Master of Ceremonies

Being a bilingual Master of Ceremonies is about much more than holding a microphone and introducing the next speaker. It's about connecting with an audience, creating momentum, and helping every participant feel involved.

Throughout my career, I've developed an approach to event hosting that combines preparation, active listening, spontaneity, and adaptability.

Whether I'm speaking French or English, my goal remains the same: to create a seamless, engaging, and memorable experience for everyone in the room.

Hosting Events in French and English: More Than Translation

Hosting a bilingual event isn't simply about switching between French and English. It's about understanding cultural differences, adapting your sense of humour, finding the right tone, and creating a shared experience for an international audience.

As a bilingual event host, I make sure everyone feels included, regardless of the language they speak.

This ability to adapt is particularly valuable at international conferences, corporate conventions, award ceremonies, and other high-profile business events.

Behind the Scenes of a Corporate Event MC

Behind every event that feels effortless lies a great deal of preparation.

Before stepping on stage, I take time to understand the organiser's objectives, the audience, the key messages, and the overall event programme.

That preparation gives me the freedom to focus on what matters most once the event begins: listening, reacting, managing transitions, and adapting to the unexpected.

For me, the art of being a Master of Ceremonies lies in finding the right balance between structure and spontaneity.

I thoroughly enjoyed my conversation with Minter Dial. It was an opportunity to reflect on my career and share what I find most rewarding about hosting live events.

Today, I work with companies and event organisers in France and internationally as a bilingual Master of Ceremonies, corporate event host, and speaker.

My ambition is simple: to bring clarity to every message, build genuine connections between speakers and audiences, and help turn each event into a memorable experience.
